Born in 1970, the Docksides Portland is the traditional boat shoe – built with a classic tubular construction – that incarnates Sebago’s rich maritime heritage. Part of the Made in USA Capsule Collection, this iteration takes production straight back to the United States of America, reaffirming the artisanal savoir-faire that has long defined the brand’s history. Every pair is crafted at Rancourt & Company, the historic Maine manufacturer, using a traditional American stitching technique with no pre-punching, resulting in a robust yet flexible construction. Made from premium “Crazy Horse” leather sourced from the historic Seidel Tannery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the upper is built for durability and strength, aging gracefully as a unique patina emerges with each and every wear. Refined details reinforce the meaning behind the capsule, from gold foil “Sebago Made in USA” lettering on the insole to exclusive packaging: a natural extension of what the shoes contained inside stand for.

Tutto perfetto!

I wear Sebago Docksides for more than 30 years.

I bought these shoes during pre-sales and they really look lovely and are very well made. No discussion about that!

There’s only one problem, which is the fitting. They are tighter above the toes, feel narrower at the front and the leather is much stiffer than the regular Docksides Portland’s. In comparison you actually can see that the material at the front side is cut lower.

This implicates that you have to break them in. Problem is that after a few miles they really hurt at your heel and even cause an injury.

The very kind support apparently do not have the Made in USA shoes in their hands to understand what I am trying to explain. They only refer to the description but that is not a solution.

These potential 5-star rating shoes really deserve some break-in instructions as you would expect with expensive shoes.

After breaking in mine are fine now but still feel a tad tight.
